ANSWERS (Yeah!)

1. c. Copado=cool. Me trajiste un alfajor? Que copado sos! (You brought me a cookie? You're cool!)

2. d. A kiss (on the cheek...clarifying) is a common greeting here for men and women. Handshake into it or hug out of it, but the essential contact is right cheek to right cheek.

3. a. Meat. Or possibly d. Bread. Either are "essentials"

4. a. The Superclasico is a football (soccer) match between the two giant rivals: Boca Juniors and River. Kind of like the Oregon Civil War, but more so.

5. d. Gracias. Odd as it may sound, saying 'thanks' in this context means 'no thanks'. No is an acceptable response, but a twinge too direct.

6. c. Most Argentines I've met would say Maradona is still 'the man' several decades later. Messi's not as respected in his home country as elsewhere, which rules out b. and is kind of a shame, because he's a legitimately good player. Even though he plays in Spain, he's not seen as a traitor. Usually.

7. b. Tango is indigenous to the region, but it's kind of an elite style nowadays. Cumbia is the music of gangster wanna-be's and the working class. Other popular styles are rock nacional and folklor.

8. b. While the rest can be used with most ages, a nene or a nena is specifically a little kid. Nah, chabon, na'a que ver! (No dude, not at all!)

9. a. In a grocery store or in most places, feel free to get vocal about small injustices. In a government office, however, the normal course would be b.

10. c.- if you're from Buenos Aires or south. a. if you're from Cordoba, where I'll be going tomorrow! b. if you're from elsewhere in the country, or a foreigner. As far as I know, nobody pronounces it with a 'ch'. 'ch' is for CHE!
